A Slovakian Motif Hat topped with a cool TopKnot!

Please note - to better balance the motifs, the heart and diamond motif bands have been switched in the pattern as written, the first photo shows them before the switch. The Brown and Pink hat in photos shows the Motifs in the correct order.

A Tribute Hat to the amazing knitwear worn by the 2014 Slovakian Winter Olympic Team at the opening ceremonies in Sochi. Some digging revealed that the motifs on their hats were taken from the homes in a small Slovakian village, Čičmany,. The houses are covered from top to bottom with these motifs, folk patterns which are designs used on fabric and clothing. I charted them out from photos found on-line and turned them into this slouchy hat with a stuffed TopKnot. In two sizes Small/Medium & Medium /Large and worked in worsted weight wool, it works up quickly and is striking in black and white. Make this hat your own by using your own favorite colors.

110 (140 ) yds MC (Cascade 220 Jet in photo)
55 ( 70 ) yds CC (Cascade 220 White in photo)

US Size 7/4.5mm 24 in Circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge
US Size 6/4mm 24 in Circular needles or 1 size smaller than size which obtains gauge
Same size DPNs as larger needles
Seam Needle, Stitch Marker

Gauge: 21 sts X 25 rows = 4 ins in blocked, stranded stockinette st on larger needles.
Finished Height: 10 ( 10 ) ins
Finished Circumference: 18 1/2 ( 20 1/2 ) in at corrugated rib brim.
