Small Changes Shawl
When things are overwhelming, hope can be hard to find. The Small Changes Shawl is a reminder that we don’t need to fix the world all at once. Focus on the little things, and know that those small changes can eventually change the world.
The pattern features solid rows interspersed with lace sections. Each lace section is slightly different from the previous and the shawl gets lacier as it goes on, for a gorgeous accessory that adds the perfect touch of warmth and elegance.
Gauge
24 sts and 12 rows = 4”/10cm in dc
Gauge is not essential to this pattern as a shawl that is slightly larger or smaller will still fit nicely. Differences in gauge will change the finished size and will also impact the yardage required.
Shape and size
The shawl is almost a full circle, but it isn’t joined, for a wearable shawl that drapes over the shoulders. It has a radius of 19”/48.25cm, which means it measures 19”/48.25cm down the back and has a wingspan of 38”/96.5cm.
The pattern is not adjustable, however you can end early. You can also use a bigger yarn and hook to create a larger shawl.
Yarn and colors
The sample uses lace weight yarn, but works beautifully in anything up to a worsted. I recommend a yarn without too much color variation as variegation will obscure the pattern details. It would look gorgeous in a gradient as well.
