Designed for Hats of Saffron Walden project for Craft Days in Saffron Walden.

Saffron Walden dates back to the 1100’s when the main trading item in medieval times was wool. In the 16th–17th centuries the saffron crocus (Crocus sativus) was widely grown. The flower was valuable and was used in medicines, as a condiment, in perfume, as an aphrodisiac, and as an expensive yellow dye. The industry gave Walden its name.
