Smartie Jamieson never goes anywhere without his hat - just in case it rains. He’s a super cool doggy detective inspired by The Adventures of Flub-a-dub and Smartie Jamieson; characters and stories created by my little girl for bedtime!

The most important item in Smartie’s wardrobe is his little black cotton beret - it must be worn at a slightly jaunty angle - if it’s not perfectly positioned he won’t leave the house ‘til it is! To keep cosy he also has a lovely red felt scarf his friend Florence Fox made him for Christmas, and his ‘lucky’ white vest - it’s never let him down yet! His fur is crocheted with a yarn recycled from old jeans and his extra large felt nose is perfect for sniffing out who dunnit! Smartie tells everyone he’s 15.1cm tall (0.1cm taller than Dominic Donkey), but he’s actually only 14cm tall!

This tutorial gives full instructions and images to make your own Smartie Jamieson. Only basic skills are required including forming magic rings, single crochet, increasing and decreasing. Remember the finished size will vary depending on the yarns you use.
