The Smile & Hugs Footbags are a 2-for-1 game and hand warmer. These fun little squish-balls feature tapestry crochet shapes and letters to personalize your project. They’re great for a game of catch or kicking around between friends. While the Smiles & Hugs Footbag is a great game or fidget toy, if made with cotton and rice, it is also microwaveable and will keep your hands warm for a few minutes at a time.

The free pattern on my blog includes a smiley face graph as well as a heart graph. The ad-free PDF in my shop also includes graphs for the full alphabet as well for additional customization. You will need two colors of cotton yarn to do the color work. Approx 25 yds of main color and approx 10 yds of a contrasting color.

Filling this bag was done with a liner to prevent rice from coming out. You can repurpose a cotton sock for this or create your own inner pouch with a 6” square piece of cotton fabric. This step can be skipped altogether if filling your footbag with a larger substance, such as beans.
