Pattern is worked in overlay mosaic technique. Pattern assumes you have a basic understanding of overlay mosaic crochet. Instructions include how to work back and forth, with Right side facing you for two rows and Wrong side facing you for two rows, alternating. You do not cut the yarn at the end of each row. There are no ends to weave in, except the starting and ending tails of the block as a whole.

The example was worked in worsted weight yarn with 5 mm hook. It measures 12” wide by 13” tall. I used Lion Brand Pound of Love and Lion Brand Ombre Happy. Any yarn can be used. Size will vary depending on weight of yarn and size of hook used.

Overlay Mosaic Crochet uses only single crochet and double crochet stitches. Single crochet stitches are worked in the back loop, leaving the front loop available. Double crochet stitches are worked using the front loop that was left available two rows down. The double crochet stitches cover some of the single crochet stitches in the other color to create the design. You work with only one color of yarn at a time. Yarn color is alternated every other row. Yarn is cut at the end of every row. The back of the work is striped but gives a faint impression the pattern.
