Smitten & Bitten Mitts
These mittens feature a mosaic, or slip-stitch, knitting design. It’s a fun, healthy way to make mittens that look far more complicated than they really are. With slip-stitch knitting, rows are worked in pairs with the same strand of yarn. In the instructions below, you will see that the same pattern is worked two times in one color before changing the second color. Because these mitts are knit in the round, there is no need to purl the knit stitches, as you would do with flat knitting.
I made the Smitten & Bitten Fingerless Mitts so that the left and the right were color mirror images of each other, but they would totally look fantastic using the same color scheme for both. These mitts were made with a 100% merino yarn; any fingering weight yarn would also work well.
Size: One size fits most. Right and left fingerless mitts are worked the same, unless you are doing the mirror image, in which case, you would
