Smitten with Mittens
Here we are again. It’s fall, but it’s winter at the moment. Our hands are freezing and we need a good pair of warm mittens to keep them toasty.
There are a million wonderful mitten patterns out there, so, why write another one? I would like to share with you the instructions for the way I made these, taught to me by my Grandma. I’ve received some feedback about the simple finishing, and was encouraged to put that in a pattern, so, here goes!
I hope you enjoy making them. These are fast and easy!
I am smitten with mittens and hope you will be, too.
They are sized women’s medium/large.
The directions are written specifically for Malabrigo Mecha yarn, which knits more like an Aran weight, than chunky. If using a chunky weight yarn, be sure to measure inches, rather than follow the row counts
of this pattern.
Gauge measures 4 sts./in. per inch in stockinette stitch. The mitts are 10” long.
Materials
One skein of Malabrigo, Mecha
Size 9 double pointed needles, 6 or 8 inches long.
Locking stitch marker for counting rounds.
Yarn needle.
Be smitten with mitten knitting’!
Thank you to Andrea for the great spontaneous shot!
