About this design
Three words describe these socks—texture, texture, texture! Based on a 1x1 knit/purl twisted rib, these socks have super elasticity even though there are wrapped stitches in the stitch pattern. I did a lot of tweaking to the original stitch pattern to ensure that this design stretched in all the right places to ensure a comfortable fit. The reverse side of the stitch pattern is also pretty and looks fabulous when the cuffs are folded down to form ankle socks. And if that wasn’t enough texture, the heel flap tweaks the traditional slipstitch heel to produce gorgeous multi-level purl bumps that make a speckle or variegated sock yarn play to its strengths.

These socks are toe-up with a wedge toe and use German short rows for the heel turn. As with all my sock patterns, there is a generous gusset and a deep heel flap to ensure durability in the heel area.

Please note that the completed dimensions for the foot circumference will be smaller than the actual foot circumference size. This is because the pattern includes a small amount of negative ease to ensure a snug fit. Please select your size based on your actual foot measurements.

Tension
36 stitches x 52 rows over 10 centimetres (4 inches) in stocking (stockinette) stitch, knitted in the round using 2.25 mm (US size 1, UK size 13) needles. A close match for tension is important for this pattern in order to ensure a good fit. Please move up or down a needle size and swatch one more time if your gauge does not match.

Yarn
400 metres/437 yards of 4-ply/fingering weight sock yarn (approx. 100g).

Needles
A pair of 2.25 mm (US size 1, UK size 13) 61 cm/24 in circular needles. Optional 2.5 mm (US size 1, UK size 12) circular needles for the cuff.
