Smocked Capelet
The perfect pairing for a crisp fall day, this capelet design provides several wearing options. Keep it high on your shoulders with the neck rolled down or wear it longer, pulled snugly around your shoulders, providing a little extra warmth as a funnel neck.
This is a top down design. Shaping is created by beginning with a #7 needle, followed by an #8 needle, and working the majority of the capelet using a #9.
Gauge listed is with the #9 needle, which is larger than what is recommended for this yarn.
The smocking stitch provides considerable stretch which creates a very comfortable fit. Choose a size that will be required to stretch, hugging your shoulders.
Measurement at bust line around upper body, including arms:
xSm (25-36”), Sm/Med (32-45”), Lg (38-54”)
Yardage: 440, 540, 690 yds
Note about yardage: Due to the irregularity of this yarn, yardage between skeins can vary tremendously. It has been my experience that when using other yarns, as much as 15% less yardage may be required.
