“ Smoke, the cardigan” is worked top down, flat, back and forth, seamlessly.
Before starting the yoke, a few short rows are worked to shape the back of the neck longer than the front.
The yoke is worked in Smock stitch, that creates a raised diamond pattern. Using two shades of color, the lighter can be used on knit stitches and the darker one the purl ones, to emphasize the three dimensions of the pattern.
The Smoke stitch pattern is repeated every 6th row, from the 6th to the 42th row, increasing the number of stitches involved along the way.
The body is worked in stockinette stitch
Video tutorial of bi-color Smoke stitch is available at my website www.knittingsciura.com
