When our children were small we used to play a game with them at bedtime to keep the scary monsters away! We used to blow 1000 kisses into the air and get them to catch them in their hands then pop them under their pillows to give them reassuring kisses if they needed them during the night. Smooriken is Shetland dialect for a kiss and these hats are covered in love to reflect this. If you look closely you may see a smiley monster too! They have been designed to match my Smooriken mittens: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/smooriken-mittens
The pattern contains instructions for both the beanie and the tam.
They are knitted in either Jamieson’s Spindrift or in Milarrochy Tweed from Kate Davies Design. The beanie in these images is knitted in Milarrochy Tweed and the tam is in spindrift.
