Smooth As Silk Scarf
This pattern is free! Yay! I donate 25% of all my pattern sales to animal rescue each month, so I hope you will consider supporting your local rescue or checking out my other patterns!
When I first learned to knit, I was looking desperately for a pattern like this that I could understand and knit easily—new stitches were intimidating, and I was still too nervous to buy a pattern not knowing what was on the other side of it! So, when I became a designer, I knew I wanted to create the kind of scarf I had been looking for!
It’s an easy, soothing knit using mainly garter stitch, with an I-cord edge (Beginners: that just means slipping two stitches at the end! You can do it!)
Pattern instructions are written, and while this specific yarn is listed as Sport, my testers and I found it to be closer to DK. If you do decide to use a Fingering/Sock or DK weight yarn instead of the yarn listed above or a Sport weight yarn, you may get an ever-so-slightly smaller or larger scarf, respectively. The final size as per this yarn, needle size and wet blocking method is 86” long tip-to-tip by 6” wide.
I am finally on Instagram @chicandregalknits!
And, you can follow Wiley and all of his knitwear modeling on Instagram @WileyGoneWild (and read his mommy’s book, “After 9/11”, in which he makes a cameo).
Happy knitting, friends!
