Smooth Sailing Mittens
Smooth Sailing Mittens are just the thing to make for the sailors in your life when their boats are dry-docked for the winter.This design works up quickly in a DK or sport weight yarn. The cuff is lined for cozy warmth at the wrist.
The chart shows all stitches except the cuff lining.
SIZES: 1 Size—-Adult Average
Additional sizes may be made by working at a different gauge. This might require using a different weight yarn and needle size.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
Circumference: 7.5 inches
Length: 9.75 inches
Fits: hands with a circumference up to 8.25 inches.
Changes to gauge or yarn weight, or adding length, may require extra yarn.
GAUGE: 30 sts and 32 rnds = 4”/10cm over blocked colorwork pattern.
NEEDLES:
US 3 (3.25mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.
Choose needle types base on your preferred method of working small circumferences in the round. Options include magic-loop on a 32-inch circular needle, DPNs, or 2 24-inch circular needles.
YARN: Sport-Weight Yarn with 140-150 yards/50g skein
Amounts: Natural White-130 yards, Navy-100 yards, Sky Blue—75 yards
NOTIONS: 2 stitch markers, a length of smooth yarn for a holder, tapestry needle
