Snaaake! - California Kingsnake
My testers tell me this would make a great first colorwork project.
This pattern is all colorwork. It assumes you can use your own judgement to switch between intarsia and stranded as you see fit. Since its going to be seamed up, no one will see your floats, so however you want to work it, will work just fine!
Skills Needed:
• Knit
• Purl
• Intarsia/fairisle
• Increases
• Decreases
• Basic sewing
Materials:
• Size US 6 knitting needles (or needles to get a firm fabric with your choice of yarn)
Note, you may use any weight yarn you like, as long as all yarns are the same weight (using worsted will result in a roughly 5’6 snake
• ~ 300 yards cream yarn
• ~ 200 yards black yarn
• Stuffing
• Safety eyes
• Tapestry needle
Optional
• Pipe cleaners, or a few unbent metal coathangers, if you would like your snake to be poseable
• An old pair of pantyhose
• Polypellets, rice, or dry beans
Pattern gives directions on how to make your snake a toy, a draft stopper, or a scarf.
Errata:
Chart 3 is missing one cream stitch on each side - currently the stitch count is 29 whcih doesn’t match up to the counts on the preceding and following charts. The pattern will be updated soon to fix this error.
