Snail Crossing
This one skein cowl uses Malabrigo Caracol yarn. Caracol is generally used to mean spiral shaped in Spanish, which is very fitting for this yarn indeed. However, there was something else familiar about the word caracol. I was not at all surprised to discover that I was remembering this word because it also means snail. (I excel in remembering random animal names in multiple languages. You know, the part of foreign language study that can really help you out in a jam…) The pattern uses a crossed insertion of stitches near the borders, hence Snail Crossing. It’s a quick, fun knit – I hope you enjoy it!
Materials:
- 1 skein Malabrigo Caracol (150g, approx. 90 yds, 100% pure merino superwash. Color 886 Diana shown)
- US 17 circular in 32” length
- A large cable needle, J-hook, or large sized dpn/circular needle (I used a 16” circular US 11)
- Stitch marker
- Yarn needle to weave in ends
Finished dimensions: Approximately 7 ½ inches deep and 37 inches in circumference. Gauge is not critical in this pattern – I have average tension.
