This is a lace crochet shawl pattern with a lot of texture to it. It uses special stitches, the pap-stitch, which is similar to the bead stitch. The shawl got its name from the look of the pattern and the pap-stitches. I think they look like snails, all lined up in proper rows, sort of like in a parade. It’s an easy, repetitive pattern with few repeating rows to remember. Easily adaptable to any size, big or small!

This pattern includes instructions and diagrams. There is a diagram for the pattern itself as well for each of the two different edges. One plain edge (a more discrete version) and one a bit sassier, called “fancy” edge. This way you can customize the look of the shawl according to your own liking! I’m hoping you enjoy this pattern!

Size and yarn
This is an example of how mine turned out with the Scheepjes whirl and corresponding hook. You can vary the size and length however you like depending on the number of repeats and choice of yarn. Totally adaptable in size!

The size of my shawl with the Scheepjes Whirl:
Longest side: 126 cm / 49,5 inches
Short side: 126 cm / 49,5 inches
Diagonal: 172 cm / 67,5 inches

-chain
-single crochet
-double crochet
-front post triple/treble crochet
-pap-stitch
