A beautifully patterned sock that uses the simple technique of mosaic slipped stitches, SnÖdroppe Socks are a delightful introduction to the world of colorwork. The colorwork portion of the socks is charted.

The design for the SnÖdroppe Socks is a worked over a multiple of 8 stitches. Each round of the chart is worked twice – once in the contrast color and once in the main color. Stitches for the unused yarn color are slipped as if to purl. (Note: You may use traditional faire isle colorwork method if you prefer.)

Techniques Used: Knit, purl mosaic clipped stitch colorwork, magic loop.

Materials: 400 yds/365m main color and 78 yds/71m of contrast yarn in a Fingering weight sock yarn. Shown here in Jorstad Artisan Yarns Mr. Pickwick (High twist 2-ply; 85% extrafine superwash merino; 15% Nylon; 394 yds/360m); 1 skein, in Grey Speckle (main color) and Berry Berry (contrast color).

Equipment: Two US 1/2.25 mm and two US 1.5/2.5 mm (for slipped stitch portion), 40-inch (100cm) Circular needles, or two sets of 4 (5) double pointed needles, as you prefer; one Stitch marker.
