Snoqualmie Stripes Jacket
Pattern description from Knitting in America: “For the Snoqualmie Stripes Jacket, Kerry drew inspiration from the stripes in traditional African kente cloth and the colors of the northwest. The fabric is composed of rectangles - simple green ones and three different multicolored stripe formations. Kerry chose a woven stitch for the slouched shawl collar and the cuffs, creating a sturdy fabric reminiscent of the basket of the Tlingit, a native people of the northwest. The proportions are intentionally wide and easy, meant to fit over the layers of clothing Washingtonians generally wear to accommodate the changing weather on any given day. The Snoqualmie Stripes Jacket, made with Creative Yarn’s own BioSpun Merino eight-ply yarn, is named after the Snoqualmie Pass, the Cascade Mountain pass that leads into Seattle from the east. This pattern appears on page 202.”
