Snövit – Swedish for snow white - features a beautiful old German stitch pattern that I’ve been wanting to use for a long time. It is much easier to work than it looks like. The sample has been worked in a gorgeous plant dyed, ecological cashmere/merino blend by Anna und Juan that is incredibly soft and perfect for wearing next to the skin.

The scarf is worked in two halves that are joined in the middle.

Size:16 cm [6.3’’] wide, 210 cm [82.75’’] long
You can work the scarf as long or as short as desired, and in any stripe pattern or without stripes as you like, but note that this will change the amount of yarn you need.

Gauge: 21 sts and 38 rows = 10 cm 4’’ in stockinette stich after blocking
(Gauge is not vital for this project, but it will affect the size of the FO and yardage.)

Anna und Juan Plant Dyed Cashmere Merino (50 g [1.8 oz], 118 m [129 yd], 90 % merino, 10 % cashmere), 4 hanks Undyed (MC), 1 hank Krapp (madder) (CC)
Or approx. 510 m [560 yd] sport weight yarn of your choice, 410 m [450 yd] for MC and 100 m [110 yd] for CC.
3 mm [US 2.5] 40 cm (16’’) circular needle, or a size that gives you a fabric you like.
(Designer’s note: I’m a loose knitter, so you may want to try bigger needles if you aren’t.)
2 mm [US 0] or smaller 40 cm (16’’) circular needle for holding stitches
2 stitch markers
stitch holder
