• DESCRIPTION
Create a simple triangle-shaped shawl that can be worn like a blanket with lots of fringes.
Inspired by the shawls worn in the Outlander TV series and the setting of Fraser’s Ridge in Season 6.
Yarn needed –
The Petite Wool (from We Are Knitters) in Spotted Grey x 8.
This yarn is 100g/3.5oz/153 yards/140m.
Any Chunky/Bulky/12 ply yarn can be substituted for this project.
Needles –
8mm (US 11) 40″ Circular knitting needles
I used circular needles as there were many stitches as the shawl grew in size.
The shawl is knit flat back and forth – not in the round.
• SKILLS
Level – Easy
This is an advanced beginner knitting pattern and the techniques involved are knit stitches, KFB, PFB, and working on circular needles to accommodate a large number of stitches.
• SIZING
The shawl shown in the photos is an adult woman’s small/medium.
Width tip to tip – 88 inches/224cm.
Length – 36 inches/91cm.
It is really easy to adjust for any size, as all you need to do when you knit is to add more or fewer stitches.
For a larger size – you will need more yarn.
The larger sizes will need more stitches worked than given in the pattern, hold the shawl against yourself as you knit to see if it needs to be made larger.
