This pattern is heavily inspired by Norah Gaughan. The construction reflects her Kaver and Taku sweater patterns while the cable motif is a modification of the Berroco snowflake cable.

Size is determined by gauge. Using larger needles and thicker thread/yarn will allow the pattern to fit larger dolls than the 42-44cm slim mini BJDs shown.

Front and back are knitted separately from the outside edge to the center and then joined when casting on and picking up for the sleeves. The ribbed hem of the body is knit down from the front and back and the sweater is blocked flat before sewing the side and sleeve seams. The neckline and sleeve cuffs are finished after blocking.

If using Red Heart LusterSheen you will have to divide it into plies before knitting. When dividing yarn for doll knitting I recommend winding off about 50 yards to work with rather than attempting to divide a whole skein.

Gauge is more reliably measured by knitting the back and blocking it. The measurement from point to point across the center should be 9 (LusterSheen) or 10 (#10 bamboo thread) centimeters. The width of the motif should be one half of the bust/chest measurement of the intended doll plus half the desired amount of wearing ease. The pink version is shown with about 1.5cm of ease, the white/ecru version has about 3cm of ease.
