Snow Day Leg Warmers
The Snow Day Leg Warmers are a 2x2 half twisted rib leg warmer with a tubular bind off at the end to ensure a snug fit on the leg. They are constructed bottom-up. They use a worsted or aran weight yarn and are super warm and squishy. Cozy, cute, coquette. ^___^
This project was heavily inspired by Dawn Wang’s pinterest-worthy ribbed leg warmers, as theirs is also a 2x2 rib. Check out their pattern, especially if you want to use a lighter weight yarn!
Gauge
18 stitches = 10 cm using 4.5mm (US 7) needles.
The gauge is flexible for this pattern, as it is just a tube. You can always cast on, work about 2-3 inches, then carefully try on to see if the width is satisfying to you. There is also flexibility in how tight the top becomes.
Suggested Materials
- Yarn: Any worsted or aran weight yarn, or any yarn that obtains gauge. I used Cascade 220 Superwash Aran in the color White Sands. I used 160g/220m, which was a little under 2 skeins. You can make them shorter/less slouchy if you’d like to use less yarn, or you can make them as tall as you’d like!
- Needles: Size 4.5 mm/US 7 circular needles (30-40 cm/12-16 in. length or magic loop). I did not need to use magic loop until after the decrease round, when I got into the double knitting. You could probably use double pointed needles instead if that is your preference.
Finished Size
The size can be tailored to what you prefer in terms of length and even width (by adjusting the number of cast on stitches). The final blocked size of mine was approximately:
-31 cm/12 in. long
-13 cm/5 in. wide (unstretched)
