Snow in the City Mitts
Everyone in New York wears all black; black boots, black pants and black coats crowd the subway in the mornings here. That’s why it’s so wonderful to see a bright, happy pop of color in the dead of winter. These mitts are small, easy to shove in a purse but bright enough to be eye catching on your morning commute. They are knit in the round, with stitches knit in waste yarn and picked up later to create a simple thumb. Bright, repetitive color work contrasts nicely with a muted winter wardrobe.
The pattern is listed as one size and will fit an adult woman’s hands. Yarn and needles can be adjusted to change the size of these mitts.
Any sport weight wool can be used as long as it is soft. I would also suggest choosing a portion of the color work to swatch and test wash it first to see if the dye in your chosen yarn runs.
Happy knitting!
