This design sprang from a cold day in January with snow flurries and no school for the kiddos. I needed something that would go quick but be beautiful and elegant for a birthday swap project. I fell in love after blocking and now have to have one for myself. I hope you love it too!!

This cowl combines lace with garter stitch and texture details. It can be made with any worsted weight yarn or with fingering weight held double. Solid colors will give best pattern definition, but if you want a little flair try it with a variegated yarn or two different colors. Main color for the lace pattern and contrast color for the edges and mountain section.

I’ve given it an advanced beginner rating, because of the lace work and bobble stitch. It might be helpful if you mark the beginning and end stitches during the lace pattern if you are having trouble keeping track. I’ve also included a link to a you tube video for how to do the bobble stitch.
