Snow Melody
About this scarf:
I originally designed this scarf for my friend Ebony for Christmas. I wanted to make something unique for her that was simple but elegant. So, I sat down in front of my TV one night and started playing around with some yarn… and this is what came out. The touch of simple lacework combined with the gentle wave created by the modified cable really encompass what I wanted for her design. Like snow drifts and swells of beautiful music.
The cable is purposefully altered so that the top portion of the cable creates a raised wave pattern like a snow drift.
This pattern features a reversible cable pattern which makes it beautiful to wear on either side.
I used a worsted weight yarn to knit my friends scarf, but I think this would look lovely in either a DK weight or a bit bulkier weight. (Though in a bulky weight you will lose a bit of the delicateness of the simple lace part).
What you need:
Needle: 4.25 mm circular or straight needles. (whatever your preference) or size needed to obtain gauge
Yarn: About 370 - 437 yrds (340 - 400 meters) of any medium weight yarn will work for this scarf, but make sure you check your gauge.
Gauge: 15 sts and 20 rows = 4 inches (10cm) with JP7 / 4.25mm needles in stockinette.
