The yarn I used for this design was a gift from my oldest son, he asked me to drive him to the store, and when we got there asked me to take him to the yarn section and he spent some time there looking for the perfect colors, when we went to pay, he took out all his savings and started counting his money. After he had the yarn he turned to me and said “you always make sure we have everything we need, and I noticed you don’t have anyone around that does that for you so I wanted you to have something special.” So we came home and I decided to design something that would make him feel proud.

Worsted yarn - 5.5 mm (9US) - 80cm (32”) circular needles
DK yarn - 4.5 mm (7US) - 80cm (32”) circular needles
Fingering yarn - 3.5 mm (4US) - 80cm (32”) circular needles

Final shawl measurements: approximately 49 ¾ “ (126cm) long and 26 ¾” (68cm) high measured at the middle.

*** Gauge is not essential for this design, although keep in mind that your gauge will determine the amount of yarn you require for the shawl and it will affect the final measurements. Please see pattern notes for different yarn weight suggestions.*

Pattern notes

• This design uses most of the yardage (one complete skein) of the Bernat Pop worsted weight yarn (medium 4). Be sure to check gauge and/or have extra yarn for the bind off. (I had just under 3grams of yarn left.)

• You can knit this shawl using Worsted, DK or Fingering yarn – I have added size needle recommendations for each yarn weight. The amount of yarn you will need will vary for each weight. If you like larger sized shawls, I recommend you use at least 2 skeins or the equivalent of 200g for each yarn weight. The sample I knit was used using only one skein of yarn; you can double the size by using a second one.

• This pattern is reversible, so make sure you mark with a progress keeper your right side (RS) so you can differentiate between sides.

• I have included a pattern tracker chart, for you to keep track of your pattern repeats. Although the sample was made knitting 10 more pattern repeats, I have added extra spaces in case you want to knit a bigger sized shawl.
