Inspiration
A few years ago I read the book ‘About Grace’ from Anthony Doerr, the same author who inspired a lot of my book-inspired patterns, such as the Hotel of Bees shawl, the Sea of Flames Shawl, the Shell Collector Wrap and the 2020 Scheepjes CAL d’Histoire Naturelle.
In the book we follow David Winkler, a man fascinated with weather and an obsession with snow. As he discovers the wonders of snow crystals through his microscope, we do too when working this sweater. And maybe we’ll discover that each snow crystal is truly unique.

Yarn
The sweater is made using Scheepjes Metropolis (75% merino, 25% nylon), 50g/200m, in two colors:
- Main color - Johannesburg 054 (warm purple)
- Contrast Color - Lyon 078 (cream) Among the pictures you will find the metrage per size and per color.
About the pattern
- A written pattern in English US terms or Dutch
- Clear tutorial pictures for all the tricky bits
- Choose between a printer friendly version to save paper or a nicely formatted version
- All sizes are tested the pattern is professionally tech edited
- Sizing notes are added at the points where you can alter the pattern to your own desired measurements
- Special techniques (explained with text and photos): short row shaping, crochet ribbing, working with two colors without cutting yarn.
- Special stitches (US terms): back post stitches, front post stitches, crocheting stitches together with sc or dc.
Sizing
The pattern is designed for sizes XS-3XL. Measurements of the finished sweater are given in cm and inches. Choose your size based on your bust circumference and upper arm circumference. The sweater should have a sleeve with approx. 2cm/0.8”positive ease at the upper arm and a bust with 10.5 – 17.5 cm/ 4.2 – 7” positive ease.

The model, my sister, is wearing the purple version in size XS and the blue version in size M.
