A simple classic fitted beanie with a neat folded brim, and a fun playful motif which is eye-catching but not complicated to make.

Requires DK or light worsted weight yarn, in 2 colours. Approx 105yd of main colour and 45yd of contrast. Light grey or white is recommended for the contrast colour, in keeping with the snowball concept. But you could easily use a bright colour and call it a paint splash instead :)

Knit in the round, a provisional cast on is used (3 methods offered).

You will need some waste yarn plus a thinner-than-3.5mm extra needle and cable to work the brim portion. If you prefer to crochet your waste yarn cast on, you will also need a hook approx 3.5-4mm in size.

Size measured with hat laid flat and unstretched, after blocking
• width: 10.5 inches (across brim edge)
• height 7.5 inches
