Who among us doesn’t have a favorite holiday decoration? The frivolous, unnecessary, but incredibly cute seasonal fabric birds that make their way into stores every year get me every time. The Snowbird Socks are inspired by my little winter birds: they are always prepared for the season, and never forget their winter scarves and hats. I designed these socks so I could take my little friends everywhere, no matter the occasion. I hope they bring you as much joy as they bring me.

PATTERN NOTES

This pattern uses one chart. It includes a picot edge cuff, heel flap and gusset, and square toe. CC2 is added using duplicate stitch. Other cuffs, heels, and toe styles may be substituted according to your preference.

I used black for my sample socks to mimic a penguin, but you can use any color! I’ve included two additional versions of the main chart – one includes different colors for the bird and the other includes texture on the scarf using purl stitches. Please feel free to mix and match and have fun with a colorful flock!

SIZING

This pattern uses 3 sizes designed to fit approximate foot circumference 8 (9, 10) inches. This can vary based on gauge, needle size, and sock fit preference, so please ensure your chosen size matches with your knitting style, materials, and preferences, or adjust accordingly. The pattern includes approximately 10% negative ease. The foot length is flexible according to foot size.
