A knitting pattern for a very realistic snowdrop that is around 10 cm (4”) tall. It’s a really fun way to decorate your home for spring.

Difficulty:
Intermediate+

These snowdrops are mostly knit flat on 2.00mm double-pointed needles using a very simple form of double knitting and only a very small part is knit in the round. Puzzling the different parts together and picking up stitches for the petals will be a lovely challenge for intermediate knitters.

Wire and some creative blocking are used to get them in shape after closing one seam with a couple of stitches.

Yarn and yardage:
While you can more or less ignore my gauge, I really recommend picking a good lace yarn (scraps are enough). Knitting these snowdrops with bigger needles and a heavier yarn will result in a much bigger (and larger than life) flower.

Skills required:
knit, purl, SSK, k2tog, K3tog, kfb, i-cords, and the KLL & KRL increases( though M1L & M1R works passably as well)

Additional materials:

• thin copper or jewelry wire (to support the leaves)
• a thicker wire for the stalk (or you twist 2/3 lengths of thin wire into one sturdier support)
• crochet hook (to pick up stitches)
