A simple beret hat pattern worked in aran or worsted yarn for a quick and easy project! The crown decreases create a beautiful snowflake-like effect, hence the name!
You can also use the pattern as a blank canvas to add embellishments such as cables or lace to the body of the hat.
Sizes available: One size, a flexible fit for an average-sized head - if the hat is working up too small or too big, you can try going down or up a needle size to make the hat a better fit for you.
You will need:
• Approx 70g of Aran/Worsted weight yarn (approx 117m/127yds)
• 4.5mm 24cm (16”) circular knitting needles for working the ribbing of the hat
• 5mm 24cm (16”) circular knitting needles for working the body of the hat
• 5mm double-pointed needles for the crown decreases when there are too few stitches for the circular needle
• Stitch marker to mark the beginning of round, optional stitch markers to mark the decrease repeats
• Scissors
• Darning needle for ends
Gauge: approx. 4.5 stitches to 2.5cm/1 inch on stocking stitch
Row gauge is not as important as you knit until the work reaches a certain length.
Enjoy the pattern!
