These Snowflake Coasters make the perfect, festive addition to any Christmas table!

The coasters are super quick and easy to whip up & are a great way of using up scraps of cotton yarn— each coaster only uses about 5g of yarn, so this is a perfect, stash-busting project for the festive season.

Gauge

Gauge is not important for this project. I recommend using a size down from whatever hook you would typically use for DK weight yarn— I usually use a 4.00mm hook for DK yarn, so, for this project, I’ve used a 3.00mm hook.

The finished coasters are approx. 10cm in diameter.

Materials

  • About 5g (per coaster) of Stylecraft Naturals Organic Cotton, in the shade Gypsum (7168), (50g = 104 m 114 yds) (or other, DK weight yarn), or other DK weight cotton yarn.
  • 3.00mm crochet hook.
  • Darning needle.
  • Scissors.

These coasters are worked in the round, starting with the Magic Ring technique and working outwards to form the design. A combination of double & treble crochets, as well as chains and slip stitches are used.

The blog post contains a written pattern AND photo tutorial, to help make sure that every instruction is super easy to understand and follow. Steam blocking instructions are also included to help ensure that your coasters lie flat and smooth.
