Snowflower Baby is a soft baby blanket with an easy textured slip-stitch pattern. The blanket is shaped with two long ends, so you can swaddle your baby and knot the blanket to keep it tight.

My son gave me this idea – he has always swaddled his babies, and always wanted a way to secure the ends of the blankets. He wanted a soft, light, warm blanket with longer ends so he could tie the blanket around the baby, and then the Snowflower Baby Blanket was born. I knit it in the softest yarn; a mix of cashmere, silk and baby alpaca, and little Theodor loves it!

Size
Approximately 64 x 120 cm / 25 x 47 inches (including the longer ends)

Yardage
800 meters fingering weight. Please note that yardage is estimated and may vary between knitters!

Theodor’s blanket is knit in 2 skeins of undyed grey alpaca/silk/cashmere from A Knitters World:

Suggested needles
3.75 mm / US5 – preferably circular needles, but you can also use straight needles.

Gauge
20 sts x 42 rows in pattern = 10x10 cm / 4x4 inches, after blocking. Remember to block your swatch!

Needle size is only a suggestion. Always adjust needle size to get gauge – or in this case, because it is a blanket, just aim for a material you like! Just know that changing the gauge may affect yardage.
