Snowy Owls
A family of four snowy owls - a male (all white), a female (with black markings), a sleeping owlet and a wide awake owlet.
If crocheted using Cascade 220 yarn and a 3.5mm hook the adults are approximately 25cm (10 inches) tall and the chicks 10cm (4 inches) tall. If you use a different yarn and/or hook the size may differ.
Most terms used in this pattern are the same in American and British. The only American terms used are ‘sc’ and ‘sc2tog’, which are ‘dc’ and ‘dc2tog’ in British.
You will need:
- Cascade 220 yarn: approximately 250g of White (8505), 10g of Black (8555), 5g of Goldenrod (7827) and 55g of Grey (8509).
- 3.5mm (US 4) crochet hook.
- Toy stuffing.
- A tapestry needle.
- Pins.
- For the awake owlet’s eyes: a small piece of yellow and black felt and either a felting needle or fabric glue or yellow and black thread and a sharp sewing needle.
- Optional: a stitch marker.
