Get ready for this play on textures!

Using brand new yarns from Rowan, this cowl and hat set was born out of the need to use them together for a super snuggly sumptuous cowl. Wide rugby style stripes play off each other in the aptly named Soft Boucle - stockinette and reverse stockinette are subtle and work up quickly. The next phase is the introduction of Merino Aria in the form of a mitered square with skinny stripes for a play on angles along with stripes. Finish off with textured stripes in Merino Aria; then join in the round by picking up stitches and completing a three needle bind off.

The cowl was worked first, the remaining Merino Aria was worked into the coordinating hat.

Materials:
Rowan Soft Boucle in Slate and Natural, one skein each color
Rowan Merino Aria in Slate and Natural, 2 skeins each color

Cowl: One size 10, 32” circular needle; plus one spare needle in 24” length to pick up sts and complete a 3 needle bind off

Hat: Sm, Med, Lg adult sizes (small size is shown)
Size 8 and 9, 16” circular needles, plus size 9 dpn’s
