It looks a bit like Quaker Yarn Stretcher - but is, in fact, almost the antithesis of that scarf.

They are both boomerang shaped, but where Quaker is a bit rustic - this is light and elegant.

And where Quaker is quick - this has lots of stitches and takes longer to knit (but the finished fabric is lovely and all the testers seemed to enjoy the process - it’s slower knitting, but very soothing).

But the patterns are alike in being designed to show off a special yarn with some simple stitches.

The original for this one was inspired by the VickeVira handspun gradient yarn. I didn’t want to work it too thinly or make lace that would be fighting the yarn for attention.

The pattern is listed for light fingering, but you can knit this in anything from lace-weight to fingering/sock (maybe even sport weight ?), adjusting the needle size to suit.

The pattern also contains instructions for a 2-yarn version.
