Is there such a thing as too many cats? The Egyptians sure didn’t think so. While you debate that idea with your friends, challenge your hands with this fairisle cat hat. Worked from crown back to the crown, this double thick hat is extra warm and cozy while it hides all those pesky strands of yarn from working the cat chart. Bonus, you can wear the hat with the cat side or the lining side out. It is complete reversible! Pair this design with a soft squishy yarn, and you won’t want to take it off.
Don’t want a double thick hat? No worries…directions are included on how to make it single-layered.

Designer note about yarns… choose yarns that are able to be blocked and have body. Wools and “toothy” yarns are ideal for fairisle since they fill in any gaps caused by stranded work. Not to mention that wools will be able to bounce back after blocking. Cottons and Acrylics tend to not be ideal for this kind of hat since they lose their life after blocking.
Gauge
20 sts, 28 rows = 4” in st st in the round on US Size 7 (4.5mm) knitting needle after blocking.
20 sts, 28 rows – 4” in st st in the round in either Cat Chart colorwork on US Size 8 (5mm) knitting needle after blocking. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
