So Rivoli Socks
Add a touch of Parisian flair to your sock drawer with the So Rivoli Socks knitting pattern!
These elegant and timeless socks are designed to be both stylish and versatile, featuring delicate ruffle, a rolled cuff, and a comfortable fit.
The socks are knit from the cuff down and in the round. You’ll start with a ruffle, followed by a rolled cuff, leg, reinforced heel, and finish with a classic wedge toe. The pattern offers multiple options for stitch counts to suit different preferences and features clear instructions for a neat, stretchy cast-on. Throughout the pattern, you’ll find links to short video tutorials (7 in total) for the more challenging techniques, such as the ruffle, ruffle joining with the cuff, heel etc. The pattern also includes charts and tables to help make the written instructions easier to follow.
Sizes:
The pattern is written for 6 different stitch counts to accommodate various sizes:
80, 72, 68, 64, 60, and 56 stitches (for leg circumference).
Foot length: Adjustable.
Gauge:
Focus on the number of stitches in the cast-on row, as gauge can vary depending on individual tension. However, the sample gauge is 47 stitches and 64 rows in 10 cm / 4″ using 2.0 mm needles in stockinette stitch, in the round, after blocking.
Needles:
2.0 mm circular needles or larger, depending on your tension.
For this project, you will need two sets of circular needles. Double-pointed needles (DPNs) can also be used if preferred, but you will need to adjust the stitch distribution yourself.
Yarn:
Any fingering weight sock yarn (400-420 m / 100 g) that achieves the desired gauge.
The sample is shown in:
- MC: Filcolana Arwetta Classic in Light Blush (shade 334), approximately 69 g
- For the Ruffle: Garnstudio Drops Nord in Brick Red (shade 21), approximately 10 g
Difficulty:
Adventurous beginner to experienced knitter. Techniques include a stretchy cast-on, working in the round, joining the ruffle and cuff, knitting and purling stitches, shaping with decreases, and picking up stitches.
