Sock Broker is a DK weight sock pattern geared towards adventurous beginners and advanced knitters looking for something simple but interesting - and everyone in between! The heavier yarn and larger needles make for a quick knit and the textured design is easily memorized after the first couple rows.

This dad joke named pattern was inspired by a specific request from my father. Socks of a certain leg height that are just loose enough to be comfortable around the house but not falling off and not too tight. The combination of the welted rib for the instep stitches with stockinette for the sole provides this just right in between fit.

Yarn: Up to 290 yards of DK weight yarn.

  • Sizes small and medium can be made with: One full-sized skein of approx. 100g for the single color version. One full-sized skein of approx. 100g and one mini skein of 20g for the two color version.
  • Size large can be made with: Two full-sized skeins of approx. 100g each for the single color version. One full-sized skein of approx. 100g and two mini skeins of 20g for the two color (or more) version.

Needle(s): US4 (or size needed to achieve gauge) in the type preferred for sock knitting (DPN, small circulars, magic loop). Pattern is written assuming the use of small circulars with the use of DPNs for picking up gusset stitches and working heel flap.

Notions: Stitch Markers (3), needle for weaving in ends, preferred row counting tool (if any)

Gauge: 6.5 stitches per inch in stockinette
