This is a picture heavy photo tutorial to make these cute Sock Monsters.
I call them that because I use my sock yarn scraps to make them but any yarn (+appropriate needles) can be used for this.
You can make your Sock Monster as big or small as you want - the techniques described in the tutorial can be adapted to any yarn thickness and number of stitches.

You need to know how to knit in the round, increase front and back, k2tog/ssk decreases and graft (or do the 3-needle-bind-off.

You need your yarn of choice, needles to match, a crochet hook, a darning needle, a stitch marker (or little scrap of yarn) and some stuffing material. And some buttons for eyes or contrasting yarn/thread to embroider them on.

How much yarn you need depends on how big you want your Sock Monster to be. I’ve weighed the largest one I’ve made so far (which is about the height of my forearm without the legs) and it’s under 50 g, including the stuffing.

If you want to make this for babies or small children (who still chew on their toys) please don’t use buttons but embroider the eyes instead and don’t make the arms and legs too long so there’s no risk of the child wrapping them around a body part and injuring themselves.

If you have any questions or find any mistakes, please don’t hesitate to send me a message.

Have fun!
