Lately I have been knitting hats for charity and tried different patterns. All of them were great, but I missed something in each of them. One was too slouchy, the next had only one size or used a yarn that was not available to me. This is usually the point were I grab pencil, paper and math and write up my own pattern.

In this pattern I was looking for a universal yarn, so I chose sock yarn. To make it even more versatile, this pattern features instructions for 4ply, 6ply and 8ply (or holding 4ply yarn doubled). 6 sizes are offered from kid to extra large adult. The ribbed brim is worked to double the length needed so it can fold over for extra warmth. The hat has a bit of slouch to allow for tolerance in fitting and in round gauge. This hat features my “signature decrease lines” which uses staggered ssks.

This pattern is also a “blank canvas” to get your creativity going. Use self-striping yarn for instant color work, or use left-overs and make your own striping. Use helix knitting or fading or even throw in a stitch pattern to your liking.

In letzter Zeit habe ich Mützen für den Guten Zweck gestrickt und dabei verschiedene Anleitungen ausprobiert. Alle waren toll, aber das gewisse “Etwas” hat mir gefehlt. Mal war die Mütze zu lang, mal basierte sie auf einem Garn das ich in meinem Land nicht bekomme, mal gab es nur eine Größe. Das ist dann der Punkt wo ich eine eigene Anleitung schreibe.

Meine Anleitung sollte also für ein weltweit verfügbares Garn sein - was liegt da näher als Sockenwolle! Diese gibt es in 4-fach, 6-fach und 8-fach (oder 4-fach doppelt genommen). Zusammen mit 6 Größen von Kind bis extra-große Erwachsenengröße sind fast alle Köpfe abgedeckt. Das Rippenbündchen wird doppelt so hoch gestrickt wie es benötigt wird. So kann es umgeschlagen werden damit die Ohren gut warm bleiben. Die Mütze hat eine leichte Überlänge. So bleibt Spielraum für verschiedene Kopfformen und leichte Abweichungen in der Maschenprobe. Das letzte Highlight sind meine Signatur-Abnahmen: überzogene Abnahmen bilden keine Linie sondern stapeln sich aufeinander.

Der Hauptteil der Mütze ist in glatt-rechts gestrickt. Selbstmusternde Garne kommen gut zur Geltung. Aus Resten kannst du außerdem dein eigenes Streifenmuster designen. Oder stricke dein Lieblings-Strukturmuster. Die Grenzen liegen nur in deiner Vorstellungskraft :slightly_smiling_face:
