Sockghan
by Judie Wise
Although this afghan was made with sock yarn, any weight yarn will make a lovely blanket. Make sure the needles you use are appropriate for the weight yarn with which you are working. If you make it using sport or DK yarn try a size 6 or 7 needle. If you use worsted weight an 8 or 9 might be appropriate. Try to keep to yarns of the same weight, or close to the same weight. For the sock weight blanket I used about 15 yds per block. Larger weight yarns will take a little more. Play with it until you like the drape of the fabric. Hand painted or space dyed yarn are very pretty in this blanket. You could also work the blocks in 2 colors. Just work 2 rows of one color, 2 rows of a second color, and carry unused colors up the side.
