One of the great joys of being a Raveler is meeting so many generous, kind, gifted, lovely people. I love it when someone friends me! Sometimes we only look at eachother projects with mutual admiration, sometimes we chat about knitting, and sometimes the knitting chat grows into knowing eachother better.
One of all the people I have met here is Carmen.
We chat about anything and everything, she encourages me, she test-knits for me, she writes the most enjoyable messages.
She even had me eating half a lemon every morning - which I still do!, and when my daughter went to Barcelona she even gave us her cell-phone number, “just in case”.
And when she mentioned sock-knitting I knew I just needed to make a pair. These socks are thanks to her!

Design
The socks features a ribbed cuff, and lots of nice patterning for the leg and instep. This makes the socks a fun and encouraging knit, and the results is a beautiful pair of socks without too much effort:)

Construction
The socks are knit top-down and in-the-round.
The ribbed cuff is followed by the leg in different stitch-patterns (stockinette, moss-st, Broderie Anlaise and honeycomb),
the heel-flap, heel, turn, gusset and toe are worked in stockinette, and the instep is worked in Broderi Anglais.

Size
The socks are one-size. When worked at gauge the leg-circumference is 23 cm/9”. Sizing might be modified by working at a tighter/looser gauge.

Materials
Yarn: I recommend any fingering weight yarn that knits up to gauge. If you want the stitch-pattern to show off better you could use a solid yarn in light/bright colours. I used Madelinetosh “Tosh Merino light” in colourway Gemini Twins -359P to work my pair. This yarn comes in skeins of 384 m/420 yards, and you will need approximately 300 m/336 yards. Needles: I used 2 circular needles, size 2.25 mm/US1 to work the socks. In the pattern they are referred to as needle 1 and needle 2. If you prefer you might substitute the circular needles by a set of dpns, or even one single circular needle (if working the magic loop). Notions: 2 removable stitch-markers. Tapestry needle. Blocking tools.

28 sts and 40 rounds in stockinette/stitch-patterns

The pattern
The pattern guides you trough all the parts of the sock from gusset to toe. All patterns are written out round-by-round.
