Inspired by Jacquline Rivera’s summers on the New Jersey boardwalk, Socks À La Mode encapsulates the best part of summer — frozen custard in a waffle cone from Kohr Brothers.

MATERIALS
Yarn: Smooth Sock by The Uncommon Thread (75% superwash Bluefaced Leicester wool, 25% nylon, 465 yds / 425 m – 100 g).
MC: 1 hank in colourway Julep. Or approx. 186 (205, 228, 247) yds / 170 (187, 208, 226) m of fingering-weight yarn.
CC1: 1 hank in colourway Sorbet. Or approx. 28 (33, 37, 42) yds / 26 (30, 34, 38) m of fingering-weight yarn.
CC2: 1 hank in colourway Brassica. Or approx. 56 (61, 70, 75) yds / 51 (56, 64, 69) m of fingering-weight yarn.
CC3: 1 hank in colourway Fe203. Or approx. 56 (61, 70, 75) yds / 51 (56, 64, 69) m of fingering-weight yarn.
Needles: US 1 / 2.25 mm and US 2 / 2.75 mm 32–40” / 80–100 cm circular needles for Magic Loop Method or DPNs.
Notions: Stitch marker, waste yarn.
GAUGE
32 sts x 38 rnds to 4” / 10 cm on US 2 / 2.75 mm needles in stranded colourwork in the rnd, after blocking.
CONSTRUCTION
These socks are knitted cuff down using smaller needles for the cuff and Stockinette Stitch sections and larger needles to work the colourwork. Two rows of ice cream cones are worked in stranded colourwork on the leg and scoops of ice cream are worked just before working the toe. The socks have an Afterthought Heel.
