Socks Elemental
Elemental Socks pattern comprises four main design points: knitting two at a time, toe to ankle, a provisional seam for the heel, and a bind off worthy of all socks, all while following a standard assembly. Though sock aficionados can be particular with their sock construction this pattern allows for the knitter to customise the particulars in width, length, fabric density, and texture with the yarn of their choosing.
The following instructions guide the knitter to work two pairs of socks at the same time using the magic loop on one long circular needle, beginning at the toe, working the foot to build a seamless row for the heel which is then knit and grafted after the cuff is bound off.
Four styles of socks included in this pattern are:
- Air basic no-frills socks which show off the qualities of the yarn, great for a variegated or self-striping yarn
- Water with contrast toe, heel, and striped cuffs
- Fire socks are adorned with the classic Balsam Knits Feather Motif (FM) up the foot, have a reinforced achilles, and picot-like bind-off, and lastly
- Earth socks with all the extra details of contrast toe, heel, FM, reinforced heel, stripes at the cuff and fancy bind-off.
