This is a simple pattern that requires only rudimentary skills, and knowledge of only a few basic stitches. You will need yarn (about 300 yds of fingering weight would be good), 3 stitch markers, needles (use what you are comfortable with, DPNs, long circulars for TAAT or the 2 needle method or short circulars. a needle for weaving in ends and kitchenering, and scissors or snips for finishing.

As for gauge, I am not good at helping determine gauge as I knit way more loosely than other knitters. therefore, I suggest you use a stitch count that you are comfortable with, and if you need help tweaking the numbers, I am always available for help, although formulas are provided throughout to assist in this.
