Socks the Platypus
Socks the Platypus is the latest installment in my wacky and whimsical sock series which now includes, ‘Catch of the Day,’ ‘Crikey!,’ and ‘Here be Dragons.’ As always, I’m heavily motivated by my brother’s enthusiasm for these patterns, and this time he even gave our friend his brilliant name, Socks.
Socks is fairly simple sock pattern, once you get past his bill, and some additions that create his character! The pattern includes notes as to how to make this whimsical fella into a more realistic platypus, and should this be your approach, you may want to pick more natural colors. But, if you like the silly approach, then have fun leaning into it! Either way, I can’t wait to spy what you creative geniuses make.
In the pattern you will find all knit instructions, as well as visual instructions how to sew the buttons on to mimic pupils, and visual instructions regarding one of the potentially confusing parts. The pattern is detailed and has 21 pages. Measurements are in inches and metric. There are charts in all three sizes for the pattern of the platypus tail, including the pattern in the toe decreases; there are also written directions for this. The rest of the pattern is entirely written.
