Soft & Strong Socks
Pay What You Can: In order to balance both fair and sustainable pricing and financial accessibility, I now offer a “Pay What You Can” pricing model. I hope that this new model helps to value my and other’s work that’s gone into this pattern while at the same time allowing for financial flexibility for everyone who chooses to purchase it.
The middle price shown below (€10) reflects the fair and sustainable value of the pattern (assuming minimum wage for me as a designer and an average number of copies sold based on surveys I did last year).
In addition to that, you can choose between a few different price points. Simply click on the price you’d like to pay. Please note that Ravelry might add on VAT to that, depending on where you’re based.
A note on why I chose to also add levels higher than the fair value of the pattern: In order for my knitwear design work to be sustainable, the average pattern sale price needs to equate to the fair and sustainable pattern value. If you choose a price point higher than the “fair” price, you’re helping to make up the difference of one of the lower price points to the “fair” value.
The Soft & Strong Socks celebrate friendship among women - friendship that is both soft and strong, that grows beautiful flowers based on a firm foundation, that blossoms and blooms over time. When women work together, like in this collaboration, and subsequently become friends, we create a very special kind of magic that we hope you feel with every stitch of this pattern.
They’re knit toe-up with a gusset and heel flap and adjustable foot and leg length to make sure you can knit a pair of socks that really fits you.
The yarn used for this pattern is Oysters and Purls 100% Corriedale. It’s soft, yet strong - just like the design itself and the female friendship we want to highlight.
The sample is a size 2 with a foot length (including the gusset and heel turn) of 22 cm / 8.7” and a leg length of 9 cm / 3.5”.
