I first made this hat ages ago using a pure Guernsey wool. It was bright red and lovely - but a bit too rough to wear. When I decided to make a remake this autumn I went for a soft and gorgeous alpaca wool from the eco-friendly and fair-trade wool Iló yarn, Bolivia. The beanie is so soft and has a splendid fit to make sure that no wind finds its way around the ears.
The knitting-instructions are easy to follow - both written and with a chart for the 3 different sizes. To make the hat it is sufficient with 50 grams of yarn - a cheap investment for a cold winter. The beanie is as nice with or without a ball at the top. The “fur” ball I used in the pictures is made of alpaca wool - all animal friendly.
